Pragelato is one of eight linked Piedmontese resorts making up the Via Lattea (Milky Way), Italy's biggest ski area, reached from Sestriere by cable car; the village itself has its own smaller local ski area plus an Olympic (2006) cross-country/ski-jump centre in a natural park setting.

Colle di Sestriere (SP23, Colle di Sestriere pass)

- 2,035 m pass on the road that continues past Pragelato up to Sestriere; a chains-or-winter-tyres obligation has been signed on this road in past winters (confirmed for 1 Nov–30 Apr 2022/23). - Usual van route from Turin/Pinerolo is up the Val Chisone via Perosa Argentina, Fenestrelle and Pragelato before climbing to the Colle di Sestriere. A local guide (2026) recommends checking conditions and required winter equipment before the climb and arriving early on busy weekends. being checked
