The way in

A12 Inntal Autobahn – Haiming-Ötztal exit

Winter rules
Austrian vignette required on the motorway; situational winter-tyre/chains law applies 1 Nov–15 Apr on winter roads. ✓ checked · bmimi.gv.at · urlaubsplatzl.com
Notes
This is the standard approach from the Inntal/Innsbruck direction; leave the A12 at the Haiming-Ötztal junction for the Ötztal valley road (B186). being checked

B186 Ötztalstraße (valley road to Sölden)

Winter rules
No pass and no separate toll inside the valley; only the Austrian vignette is needed for the motorway. Situational winter-tyre/chains law applies 1 Nov–15 Apr. ✓ checked · urlaubsplatzl.com · adac.de
Notes
The B186 can occasionally be closed for rockfall, flood damage or avalanche risk; check Land Tirol traffic notices before travelling in winter. ✓ checked · tt.com

Timmelsjoch (Timmelsjoch Hochalpenstraße)

Winter rules
Closed for winter from around early November until late May/June depending on snow conditions; only usable as a (summer) alternative link to South Tyrol/Italy, not as a winter access route. ✓ checked · en.wikipedia.org
Notes
Even in season the pass has a night closure and is tolled on the Ötztal side; not relevant for winter travel to Sölden. ✓ checked · en.wikipedia.org

Ötztal Glacier Road (Rettenbach/Tiefenbachstraße)

Winter rules
Tolled road up to the Rettenbach/Tiefenbach glaciers; closed completely to public traffic for winter from around mid/late November, reopening in spring when avalanche risk allows. ✓ checked · oetztalergletscher.com
Notes
In winter the glacier ski areas are reached only by the lift system (Golden Gate/Giggijoch), not by driving this road. ✓ checked · oetztalergletscher.com
