Mürren (Schilthorn)
Mürren is a car-free village at 1,650m in the Bernese Oberland, reached only by cable car or mountain railway from Lauterbrunnen or Stechelberg. The Mürren-Schilthorn ski area is the highest in the Bernese Oberland, running up to the 2,970m Schilthorn summit (Piz Gloria), and is joined to Wengen and Grindelwald on the shared Jungfrau Ski Region pass. For van travellers the key fact is: you cannot drive to Mürren itself — park at Lauterbrunnen or Stechelberg and go up by cable car/train.
